Alias(es): Called Tori by close friends and allies. Feel free to try it, and find out if you're counted among such. Also, "the Langley woman."

Real Name: Victoria Langley, in modern nights. Was known as Emma Langley in the Civil War era. Any farther back = Politics + appropriate History (you figure out what might be appropriate)

Apparent Age: Early 20's

Concept: The Old Guard

Physical description: Petite young woman with a porcelain complexion and stylishly short chestnut hair. Piercing black eyes. Always dressed fashionably, though often mixing in mildly avant garde or quirky pieces. Character Information

Known History

In modern nights, Victoria has been known for two things: ferocity in battle for the Camarilla against Sabbat and Infernal forces, and passion for the ideals and standards of the Camarilla. Whenever she pops up in Camarilla society, it doesn't seem to be long before she's heading back off to war.

Victoria is known to maintain a sizable private collection of paintings, called simply "The Langley Collection".

It is well-known that Victoria slept in a torpored state from sometime after the Civil War until the 1970s.

The small Langley family, currently of Knoxville but prior to the Civil War Reconstruction era located around Richmond, is comprised of Victoria, her sister and brood-mate Mavis (who has made a strong name for herself as an influence and power broker in Knoxville but has never held city office or traveled beyond her resident domain), and Victoria's childe Katie Maddox (currently in Griffin, GA).

Victoria's sire is known to be Stanislas Deleyre, French Toreador. She is known to have come originally from France, likely before the Colonies became States, and to have been Embraced to great fanfare in 1818.

Character Inspirations

“When men are no longer bound together by caste, class, corporate or family ties, they are only too prone to give their whole thoughts to their private interest, and to wrap themselves up in a narrow individuality in which public virtue is stifled. Despotism does not combat this tendency; on the contrary, it renders it irresistible, for it deprives citizens of all common passions, mutual necessities, need of a common understanding, opportunity for combined action: it ripens them, so to speak, in private life. They had a tendency to hold themselves aloof from each other: it isolates them. They looked coldly on each other: it freezes their souls.” — Alexis de Tocqueville, from the Preface to The Old Regime and the Revolution (1856)

“Nothing thicker than a knife’s blade separates happiness from melancholy.” — Virginia Woolf, Orlando

“Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.” — Pablo Picasso

“But the age of chivalry is gone; that of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded, and the glory of Europe is extinguished forever. Never, never more, shall we behold that generous loyalty to rank and sex, that proud submission, that dignified obedience, that subordination of the heart, which kept alive, even in servitude itself, the spirit of an exalted freedom! The unbought grace of life, the cheap defense of nations, the nurse of manly sentiment and heroic enterprise is gone. It is gone, that sensibility of principle, that chastity of honor, which felt a stain like a wound, which inspired courage whilst it mitigated ferocity, which ennobled whatever it touched, and under which vice itself lost half its evil, by losing all its grossness.” — Edmund Burke, 1793, upon hearing of the execution Marie Antoinette

“May God have mercy for my enemies because I won’t.” — George S. Patton Jr.

“You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.” — Winston Churchill

“Art cannot be modern. Art is primordially eternal.” — Egon Schiele

“But a mermaid has no tears, and therefore she suffers so much more.” — Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid

Rumors

  • Made quite an impression with her salon in Middle Georgia. Wonder how she'll follow it up?
  • Her passion is undeniable; her poise, not so much.
