Known History

Mortal Life

Jesse was born and raised in east Tennessee around the 1830s-1840s. His family were poor farmers in a rural area that were self-sufficient. Jesse learned a lot of valuable skills from his father such as hunting, basic craftsmanship, farming, and basic medicine. He was a "jack of all trades, master of none" but he did take a strong interest in raising livestock and hunting. Growing up he would be described as opinionated and hardworking.

Looming around the corner of Jesse's young adult life was the Civil war. During this time, Tennessee was extremely split. Tensions rose as the state remained neutral (but still part of the Union) and Jesse became more and more interested in aiding the union. He did not go to the war first thing, but while the war was drawing closer to his state he used the time to prepare himself and make sure his family would stay safe. He focused his energy on strong community building, spreading awareness, and helping any stray soldiers that might have needed a hot meal and a place to stay. Jesse did not get directly involved until the Knoxville campaign in 1863.

Introduction to the Nights

Jesse was successful in many aspects through his time as a soldier, but it was during the Battle of Wilmington he was gravely injured. He almost saw the end of the battle, but he was shot and left to die before a victory could be celebrated. Jesse's exact memory of the embrace is hazy, but he does remember dying before waking up again. Even though the embrace was only a blur in his memory, he does remember the moments following very clearly. He remembered a stranger telling him he would not die that day, but he also would not be able to continue.

The stranger was his sire, Ichabod Shepherd, who then taught him the ways of Clan Gangrel and the Camarilla before seemingly vanishing one day after his acknowledgement. Jesse was pretty sour about this abandonment, but remains grateful to his sire and they remain on good terms to this day.

Independence and Neonate Struggles

Jesse took a long time trying to figure out his place in this new world. He could not return to mortal life, but he also felt very out of place in the world of Camarilla structure. Because of this, he lived in years of isolation. Like many ex-soldiers, he returned to his simpler life of raising livestock and taking care of animals on a small plot of land far out in the countryside. As a kindred, this did not bring him the same fulfillment that it did in his mortal life (mostly due to the night time restrictions) so he eventually sold all of this around the late 1890s and lived nomadically for a long time.

He voluntarily entered torpor to escape the monotony of everyday life in the early 1900s where he remained in torpor until early 2024.

Modern Nights

Jesse and Ichabod were reunited June of 2024 when Jesse went on a search for his sire. He did not have a specific motive for this reunion besides craving a familiar face and a sense of connection with other kindred. Ever since his introduction to the domain, he has struggled with breaking outside of his sire's image and is actively working to be seen as his own person.

Jesse is a passionate crafter and enjoys gunsmithing, ammo crafting, woodworking, and bladesmithing.

He can often be found with a little brown squirrel named Abigail who has a VERY strong personality of her own.
