Character Information

Known History

Masako was a popular Geisha from the Gion Kōbu okiya in Kyoto, Japan. Her gifts as a medium manifested themselves at puberty, and her shrewd "Mother" took full advantage of this. Masako became a highly publicized Reibai (spirit medium) who would entertain as well as cast fortunes, attend shrine dedications and speak to dead ancestors.

She appeared out of nowhere in eastern Europe somewhere around the 1930's, and by the end of the Second World War was embraced by the Toreador Jasper Renfield of Bern, Switzerland. After her release from the Accounting she disappeared from the radar and re-emerged in San Francisco in the mid 1970's. She only remained in the U.S. for a few years before returning to Europe.

Masako has kept a rather low profile since her embrace, and was a citizen of Copenhagen, Denmark immediately prior her arrival to the United States. She has starred in a documentary film, Ghost Stories, which has earned her much acclaim as a Medium. It was released in 2010 with great success. She has been known to travel to domains that report "Wraith Trouble." (Fame 5: Medium)

Quotes

"Wait. Sshh....did you hear that?" Masako Hara

"She's like a living china doll. I'll bet it takes the same amount of pressure to break her." -Augustine St. Just

"Let's give her a bunch of caffeine, listen to J-Pop and then just turn her loose. It'd be hilarious." - Aleister Blackwell talking to Zio! about going on a road trip to Peoria.

"She's like a living anime character..." - Lena!

Rumors

  • Masako really speaks excellent English, but it is known to degrade at whim. Especially if she thinks she is in trouble.
  • Is very particular to differentiate the difference in pronunciation between her name and that of Her Fury, the Former Brujah Justicar Masako. She pronounces her name with a emphasis on the softer S sounds (Masa-ko), as indicative of the dialect of her native region.
  • Is not really a Toreador, but a very clever Malkavian. It would explain how she is constantly hearing "voices nobody else can hear"
  • Was once given a pony as a gift from JP, the childe of Joseph Hanover.
  • Served as a "humane" scourge for some time in Iowa City, and was highly effective. She resigned however fearing the toll it was taking on her humanity.
  • Was an Allied Spy during WWII.
  • Has a very strong fear of mirrors.
  • Been on the arm of several Camarilla luminaries, and some Giovanni. However, she only claims one kindred patron whom she entertains almost exclusively.
  • Lived in Japan for several years as a Kindred, and was tolerated by the Jade Court.
  • Has an odd choice of "friends." Those whom she has been known to frequent the company of are either of very, very low humanity or are otherwise exceptionally creepy.
  • People have reported seeing an ethereal black cat on her shoulder, with a white mask and white socks and glowing green eyes. She seems to defer to it frequently.
  • Was once mauled by a five-hundred pound panther in her duties as Scourge.
  • Banished an entity in Black Hawk County, of either demonic or wraith origin.
  • Don't ask her about the book "Memoirs of a Geisha." She will get grumpy.
  • Is a "Friend of the Family" to the Giovanni, and spends way too much time with them.
  • Can not only hear wraiths, but can see them as well. May explain why she is constantly staring at nothing or talking to herself.
