Alias(es): Sangria

Real Name: Presumably something Cuban

Apparent Age: Early 20’s? Difficult to tell, lacking a little in the humanity department, plus he has the weathered face of someone who has seen a lot of combat.

Concept: Reformed gangster turned revolutionary. Also a priest.

Physical description: About 6' tall, fairly thick-set, with shoulder length, wavy black hair and a Caribbean complexion. Rarely wears a suit, preferring instead less attention-gathering attire. Good-looking guy.

Detailed Status: Acknowledged, Dedicated, Fearless, Honorable, Loyal, Respected, Revered as Primogen

Character Information

Known History

Orphaned at a very young age in La Revolucion against Fulgencio Batista, the boy who would one night be known as Sangria (then called Matteo) was raised in a church/orphanage called La Basilica de La Virgen de La Caridad del Cobre (Basilica of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre), where by day he trained to enter the priesthood, and by night he fought amongst several of the semi-organized crime syndicates who worked to overthrow the Batista regime, when not viciously killing each other over control of the drug trade. After January 1st, 1959, there is little further record of Sangria, other than that he left the church, and that many of his enemies were discovered horribly mutilated, with a bottle of Sangria left near their corpses. A clever Kindred scholar would easily be able to deduce that Sabbat and other non-Camarilla activities in the region of Cobre were significantly reduced after the success of La Revolucion, and that Sangria bottles were often found in burnt out former havens of non-Camarilla Kindred.

Note that Sangria was Acknowledged in the early 60's in San Diego, where he fought against the Sabbat often (no bottles of wine lying around this time) until the death of his sire, whereupon there is no historical record of Sangria, until January of 2008.

Coterie

Really? If the Camarilla counts as a Coterie, then sure. If not, then Sangria's not dumb enough to tell anyone he's in a Coterie.

Allies

The Clan of Kings, the Domains of the Bay Area

Enemies

Sabbat, Assamites (not Children of Haqim!), Cathayans (until recently, that is), the majority of Setites, any Camarilla citizen who pursues personal or clan interests to the detriment of the Camarilla as a whole, such as several Archons, Tremere, Princes, infernalists, House Horned Society, in fact damn near everyone with more than 300 or so XP.

Sire

Leonardo de Corazon (deceased)

Childer

None

Broodmates

None still alive, as far as Sangria knows

Character Inspirations

Jean Valjean (belief that a person who does evil deeds can still be a good guy), Inspector Javert (the willingness to relentlessly support the system above all else, not the suicidal aspects of the guy), like half of all Anime villains, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, and Steve Austin (when in combat)

The following Movies: Mambo Kings, The Godfather series, Last of the Mohicans, Tales from the Hood

Soundtrack

Pretty much anything by Johnny Cash (seriously, what vampire doesn't listen to this guy?) but in particular "Mercy Seat" "Get Rhythm" "God's gonna cut you down" and "Personal Jesus"

"Born to Die" by Spice 1 (if you've never heard this song, google it right now. Or better yet, watch the fourth story in Tales from the Hood)

Most Tupac

Sangria likes to listen to Willie Nelson music, and of course plenty of 50's era Musica Cubana.

Quotes

“Sinners make the best Saints”

“All the devil requires is for good men to do nothing”

“Sooner or later God’s gonna cut you down”

“Life is absurd”

Rumors

Refuses to speak to/stand in the company of a Cathayan, since who knows how their version of summons works, and I don’t wanna have to worry about them doing that sort of thing when I gotta kill em all.

Somehow a Toreador. How’s that work?

Won a lot of cash on game 6 of the most recent World Series

Very devout for a Kindred. Practices Santeria. Often.

Has killed PLENTY of Sabbat

Also once killed a Camarilla citizen
