Hughes é parisiense, foi abraçado em Marselha e sabe-se que é muito antigo. Acredita-se que tenha sido um cavaleiro durante a idade media, contudo, seus relatos sempre indicam que aprendeu a arte da forja para salvar sua familia mortal da miseria.
